Quantum raises £11,000 for Tŷ Hafan

Independent financial services consultancy, Quantum Advisory, has presented Tŷ Hafan with enough money to keep the Sully-based children’s hospice open for a day.

Tŷ Hafan’s Pay for a Day initiative invites organisations to raise £10,958 which is how much it costs each day to run the unique support services the charity provides. Quantum recently fulfilled their pay for a day goal and presented the charity with £11,000. As a thank you from Tŷ Hafan, Quantum was invited to the hospice and awarded a handcrafted bronze apple to place on the special commemorative Gift Tree which honours donors.

Speaking about the company’s decision to support Tŷ Hafan, Eleni Dowsell, Quantum Advisory Marketing & Facilities Officer, said: “As a company we have always been keen to support local causes and raise money for charity. Tŷ Hafan provides comfort, care and support to life-limited children as well as their parents, siblings and extended family. As the majority of their work is about quality of life rather than end of life, we thought this very moving and wanted to support them by taking part in the Pay for a Day scheme.

“We started our fundraising mission in March last year, originally aiming to achieve £11,000 within 18 months but happily we managed to raise the full amount in just under 12 months.

“As well as introducing monthly dress-down days, we held bake sales, Six Nations sweepstakes, and also held a raffle where a member of the team would win an extra day’s leave, which proved very popular and raised £220! We also organised two external quizzes which raised £400 each, and a number of colleagues and friends have also helped along the way by raffling items.

“However, one of our more ambitious fundraising events has certainly been the ‘Race to the Stones Challenge’ where a group of 20 of us walked 51km in a day. This was, as you can imagine, very challenging, even for the most avid walkers amongst us. Luckily our hard work was rewarded by generous support from family, friends, colleagues and clients and we managed to raise just over £7,740 for this one event.

We are very proud to have reached our target, and will not be stopping there. We will continue with our efforts to raise money for this worthwhile charity and will be looking to arrange a number of other events, hopefully one of which will be a black-tie charity ball later in the year.”

Natalie Whyatt, corporate partnership manager for Tŷ Hafan, said: “We are very grateful to Quantum Advisory for raising enough money to pay for a whole day of care and support at Tŷ Hafan.

“When a child visits the hospice, they can benefit from services such as music therapy, art sessions, hydrotherapy or the use our amazing multi-sensory room, while our care team staff take over and allow parents to relax or to simply spend time together as a family, creating precious moments that last a lifetime.

“As a charity, we rely heavily on donations from our kind, generous supporters so we can keep providing the best possible standard of care to children, young people and their families across Wales.”

It costs over £4 million a year to provide Tŷ Hafan’s state-of-the art facilities.
