Aled qualified as an actuary in 2008 and secured his Scheme Actuary certificate in early 2010. He currently holds Scheme Actuary appointments for several clients and manages the actuarial team within the Cardiff office. Aled is also responsible for maintaining and developing the Firm’s actuarial models and for providing technical training for his fellow staff.
Aled has over 17 years’ pensions experience having started at JLT in Bristol before joining Quantum in 2011.
Prior to joining Quantum, Aled managed a team involved in the production and checking of bulk buyout quotations for schemes ranging in size from £1m to £6bn for a newly established insurer. This involved a six-month overseas secondment in Mumbai, India setting up a 30-strong actuarial team, including technical training and the design and implementation of internal procedures.
He was instrumental in the setting up of the Welsh Actuarial Society (WAS) which supports actuaries and other actuarial students living and/or working in Wales and is currently their President. He is also involved in several industry working parties and meets regularly to debate pensions issues.
